1. Tóm tắt lý thuyết về câu điều kiện hỗn hợp
1.1. Câu điều kiện hỗn hợp loại 1
Câu điều kiện hỗn hợp loại 1 chính là câu điều kiện kết hợp của câu điều kiện loại 3 ở mệnh đề điều kiện (mệnh đề if) với câu điều kiện loại 2 ở mệnh đề chính (mệnh đề kết quả). Công thức câu điều kiện hỗn hợp loại 1:
Câu điều kiện hỗn hợp loại 1 giả thuyết một điều không có thật ở quá khứ và kết quả cũng không có thật cho đến cả ở hiện tại.
Ví dụ: If I had studied harder at college, I would be a successful man now.
🡪 Nếu tôi học hành chăm chỉ hơn ở trường đại học thì bây giờ tôi đã trở thành một người thành công rồi. Sự thật là trong quá khứ tôi đã không học hành chăm chỉ, và kết quả của điều đó xuất hiện trong thực tại là tôi không thành công.
1.2. Câu điều kiện hỗn hợp loại 2
Đến với câu điều kiện hỗn hợp loại 2 là sự kết hợp của câu điều kiện loại 2 ở mệnh đề điều kiện (mệnh đề if) và câu điều kiện loại 3 ở mệnh đề chính (mệnh đề chỉ kết quả). Cấu trúc câu điều kiện hỗn hợp loại 2:
Câu điều kiện dạng hỗn hợp này dùng để diễn tả giả thuyết trái ngược với thực tại, còn kết quả thì không có thật ở trong quá khứ.
Ví dụ: If I were you, I would have bought this villa.
🡪 Nếu tôi là bạn, tôi đã mua căn biệt thự đó rồi. Những thực tế hành động “mua” đã không xảy ra và điều kiện “tôi là bạn” cũng chẳng thể có thật được.
